Wear protective heat resistant gauntlets and make sure bare skin is covered.
Wear sensible footwear.
Try and fire with another person to assist with lifting of kiln lid etc.
Keep gas containers at a safe distance from kiln and ensure gas burner is secure with adequate supports.
Kiln burner should be fitted with a flame safeguard device to automatically cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out.
After firing, make sure kiln and equipment has completely cooled down before storing.
