 Starts 9th September 2011Ends 11th November 2011Cost: £130 / £115(No sessions on 28th October or 4th November to allow the sculptures two weeks of drying time before firing)This course will take you through the entire process of creating clay sculpture from designing to building, glazing and firing. A sculpture can be figurative, decorative, abstract, functional or all of the above. We will cover techniques such as slabbing, coiling, sculpting, decoration and glazing. Suitable for complete beginners or the more experienced. The first day is spent making work – models, tiles, hand building and throwing with Ben’s support. Alternative approaches include Naked Raku, burnishing and the use of terra sigillata slip. The work made is biscuit fired ready for the second day when the pottery is Raku fired outdoors in a ‘top hat’ or barrel kiln.
