Classes : Throwing

Ideal for beginners, this is a 6 week structured course which will cover Health and Safety, wedging and preparation of clay and then onto the wheel for centring and coning and the first basic principles of throwing a pot.

We will cover as many techniques as possible, ie bellying out, making a lid, making a bowl and a plate

Each student will have exclusive use of a new electric potter's wheel for the 2 hour session in a happy and relaxed atmosphere, with lots of individual attention as there will be a maximum of 6 students per session.

 

Other courses and workshops will be be available, so if you would like to try out handbuilding methods or you want to develop further the skills you have learned, you can enrol on another course.

You will need a PVC apron and to wear casual, comfortable clothes.  There will be tools available but you might prefer to have your own tool kit-a wedging wire, cutting wire, natural sponge, quadrilateral turning tool and a looped double ended turning tool.

Cost of 6 week course £90 (including materials) payable on registration. Each session is 2 hours long.
